Healing
of Spirit: Jewish Hospice at Keystone
A caring
hand …
A smile that warms the heart …
A Yiddish melody … A Hebrew prayer …
Physical comfort and spiritual nourishment …
in your home or ours.
As an accredited Jewish hospice,Keystone Hospice professional and volunteer
staff are specially trained to be sensitive to and honor the values, traditions,
religious practices and customs of Jewish patients and their loved ones.
Compassionate Spiritual Support Along the
Way
Our rabbi is available to you and your family to guide you to sources
of hope and meaning through Jewish tradition; to provide resources on
Jewish laws, customs, and beliefs; pray with you; and share Jewish stories,
songs, and memories … but most importantly to listen and provide
the support you need during this difficult life transition.
Care
In Your Home
Combining the confidence of skilled nursing care with compassionate, emotional
and spiritual support, home hospice care allows terminally ill persons
to remain with family and friends in familiar surroundings. Keystone’s
Rabbi is available for home visits and consultations regarding any religious
or spiritual concerns, for prayer, and Shabbat/Holiday celebrations. We
can also advise you regarding resources available from local Jewish social
service agencies.
Care at Keystone House
If care cannot be managed at home, hospice services are also provided
at our 19-bed residence. This lovingly restored and furnished home is
fully staffed by our team members. Emphasis on details that create a home
like setting — mezuzot, a Jewish library, study with the rabbi,
Shabbat candle lighting services, and Jewish holiday meals and celebrations
— underline Keystone’s commitment to Judaism’s life-affirming
traditions. Kosher meals are available upon request.
Ongoing Bereavement Support
Jewish tradition emphasizes the way in which our souls are forever bound
to the souls of those we love. Understanding that the grieving process
begins when a loved one is diagnosed with a terminal illness and continues
well beyond death, Keystone’s bereavement services offer support
every step of the way.We provide visits and phone calls to family members
throughout the entire dying process and for at least a year after, as
well as workshops and grief support groups.
Hospice
Education and Outreach
Keystone Hospice’s rabbi and allied support team offer resources
to assist in educating your community on end-of-life issues, such as ...
- speaking on hospice and
end-of-life topics from a Jewish perspective
- offering guidance to bikkur
cholim committees on supporting families
- facilitating caregiver
and bereavement support groups in your congregation
- and offering guidance on
conducting healing services.
Keystone Hospice
is accredited by the National
Institute for Jewish Hospice and is a member of the JFCS
Jewish Hospice Network of Philadelphia.
