“I
have lived more fully since I started
receiving hospice care because I am blessed
with a dedicated staff that is so rare and special.”
KATHLEEN C., Keystone Hospice Patient
A
commitment to making the most of life, every day.
As an independent and not-for-profit hospice, Keystone Hospice is able
to set its own priorities. For patients and their families, it means
we focus solely on our mission to provide the best possible care, ensuring
each day can be lived to the fullest.
Keystone Hospice provides care specifically designed to the needs of
each individual. Care emphasizes empowering patients and families to
make care decisions; continuing normal household activities for as long
as possible; respecting each individual’s choices about how to
live their remaining life; and honoring the legacy of that life.
Keystone Hospice provides
care
regardless of ability to pay.
Medicare and Medicaid and most private/commercial insurers provide hospice
coverage for patients with a life expectancy of 6 months or less as
determined by the referring physician. Coverage includes all care as
well as durable medical equipment, medications, and supplies required
for pain management and comfort.
Hospice care can continue for as long as it remains appropriate, and
as long as the patient and family continue to desire this type of care.
As a not-for-profit, mission driven provider, no one in need is ever
turned away due to inability to pay.
A
dedication to providing comprehensive care
When the focus of care becomes comfort rather than cure, Keystone Hospice’s
interdisciplinary care team provides integrated services to both the
patient and the family to address physical, psychosocial, emotional
and spiritual needs for those living and dying with a terminal illness.
Taking the lead from the patient and family’s needs and wishes,
Keystone’s hospice team coordinates with the patient’s physician
to provide the most appropriate care.
Keystone Hospice is a pioneer in integrating music/therapeutic arts
and complementary therapies into clinical pain management. These therapies
are also successful at reducing anxiety, restlessness, and relieving
stress for both the patient and family.
Medical directors, Dr. James Mahoney and Dr. Michael Lalor, are certified
by the American Board of Hospice and Palliative Care Medicine. In addition,
many of Keystone Hospice’s RNs have received advanced certification
in Hospice & Palliative Care Nursing.
