What Are Creative Arts Therapies?

Anna's Bracelets

A very positive outcome of Anna’s involvement with art therapy was the sense of relaxation and pride she found as a result of expressing her creativity. Not having created art before, she enjoyed the meaningful avenues of expression she discovered by making colorful beaded bracelets and painting a box to use as a safe place to keep her rosaries. 

In describing her feelings about making the bracelets she presented as gifts to hospice staff, Anna observed,

“Art therapy gives me a purpose and a way to give back to the nurses and aides that help me every day."
