Carmela's Story
By the age of 63, Carmela Johnson had survived two heart
attacks, eight strokes and lung failure. She was prone to memory
deficits and would often forget to take her medications. Carmela's
problem is one of the most common challenges among patients who are
vulnerable or have chronic health issues. But innovative
technologies that ensure patients adhere to their doctor's orders
can trump poor medication adherence.
For Carmela, Keystone InTouch issued a medication dispenser that
not only alerted her when it was time to take her medication but
also transmitted a daily report to her personal nurse case
manager.
With our help, Carmela continues can now test her vital signs,
blood pressure and blood sugar. And she hasn't been re-admitted to
a hospital for over three years now.
