Volunteer Programs
Art Therapy Volunteers
Our volunteer artists and musicians are specially trained to
support patients and caregivers through music and arts experiences
to foster creative expression and opportunities to engage in
individual or group arts experiences. Music volunteers also provide
music to enhance the environment and provide entertainment to
patients, families and staff.
Patient and Family Support
Social visiting, friendship, reading, conversation, quiet
companionship, caregiver respite, as well as pastoral support from
community clergy and lay ministers. This can be done in the
patient's home, an assisted living facility or in the Keystone
House. Volunteers with special skills may provide complementary
care, such as massage and meditation.
Vigil Volunteer Program
Vigil Volunteers are a confident, knowledgeable presence and
provide quiet companionship to families and patients through the
dying process.
Bereavement Support
Volunteers support our specialized bereavement counselors to
help survivors cope with loss.
Administrative Support
Clerical Volunteers provide additional office support by
maintaining records, filing, performing data entry and completing
mailings.
Keystone House Legacy Gardens
Volunteers maintain an outdoor environment for residents and
visitors to enjoy while visiting the residential hospice at
Keystone House.
Special Events & Fundraising
Volunteers participate in health fairs, community event
information tables and assist with holiday celebrations and
events.
"Linda's Celebration of Life"
Created by Keystone Hospice patient Linda, who wanted to honor
each patient on what could be their final birthday. "Linda's
Celebration of Life" is a program devoted to recognizing each
patient's special day where volunteers bake and deliver birthday
cakes to each Patient.
Hospice Volunteer Training & Education
All volunteers receive free specialized training plus ongoing
support and supervision, which allows them to feel comfortable and
confident with their assignments. The length of training depends on
the type of tasks the volunteer will provide to patients and
families. Training for volunteers who will provide patient care is
approximately 15 hours.
