FIRST HOSPITAL FOUNDATION AWARDS GRANT TO KEYSTONECARE

Wyndmoor PA –KeystoneCare, a home care and hospice nonprofit, was awarded a grant from the First Hospital Foundation of Philadelphia for improving access to healthcare for the underserved, under-insured, and uninsured.

“We are grateful to be partners with First Hospital Foundation in serving the community,” said Gail Inderwies, RN, BSN, MBA, KeystoneCare executive director.  “They understand our mission to provide quality-driven services from a compassionate team.” First Hospital Foundation has supported Keystone since 2003.

The First Hospital Foundation supports nonprofit organizations whose programs and services address the health needs of the most vulnerable and underserved populations in the five-county Philadelphia metropolitan region. The foundation values innovative approaches to the delivery of healthcare and believes that working collaboratively with others increases the collective ability to advance knowledge in the field and make a positive difference in the health of vulnerable populations.  “The Foundation values KeystoneCare’s innovative approach to compassionate, comprehensive care, and its dedication to serving some of the most vulnerable people in the Philadelphia Region,” said Ann Marie Healy, First Hospital Foundation executive director.

In 2015, KeystoneCare served over 3,200 people with home care and hospice services.  Over 82 percent of these people were low income or indigent.  Without this support, there may have been hospitalization or other institutionalization for people with chronic care, or insufficient palliative support for hospice patients.

KeystoneCare is a nonprofit home care and hospice provider offering services, regardless of income or insurance, in the Philadelphia region. Services include home care, palliative care, comprehensive in-home hospice care, and residential hospice care in Keystone House, and private duty care for people without health issues but in need of support to maintain their independence. KeystoneCare assures patients and clients are comfortable and confident, and able to avoid unnecessary institutionalization or face the end-of-life with dignity and support. Founded in 1994, Keystone has never turned anyone away for inability to pay.
